Customers ask me, What do I like most about Skagway ?

Today, someone asked me, what I liked most about Skagway.  Love talking about Alaska, especially Skagway !  And my answer … LOTS !  To name a few …

·         The “shoot-out-town” atmosphere.

·         White Pass Railroad.  I prefer to continue, with an available tour, into the Yukon, each time I go there !

·         The White Pass Railroad train, comes to the ship for boarding (as long as you buy your package from the cruise line and not the rail road).

·         It’s not too far from the ship to the town.  Can walk but I prefer to take the shuttle !

·         The shopping.  Whether its souvenirs or jewelry (vendors come up from the Caribbean.

·         The Red Onion Saloon.  Here, you can take a tour of the ol’ bordello !  Ladies dress in can-can-style outfits.  You can buy souvenirs here too.

·         Seeing the “street cars”, where you can take a tour of the old town.

·         The Days of ’98 little theater.

Oh, there’s so much more.  Need to check out the many tours available !

But before even deciding what you want to do here ... Be sure you've planned a cruise that offers you lots of time in Skagway.  So you can take the tour of your choice AND have some time to enjoy the it’s town !

Are you thinking of venturing on an Alaska Cruise/Cruise Tour ? Yes, you’ll invest your time in learning specific insight ! Start that journey with a travel expert !

Alaska is so much fun in learning about, once you have decided it’s time, to move forward with your bucket list !  And yes, you will spend a lot of time, discovering additional insight, that you personally want to know before you go !

However, to begin (and when making your purchase)… Travel experts who have been to Alaska many times, like myself, have valuable insight in beginning this educational journey !  Meaning, most folks have no idea, the highlights, that you want to consider not missing !

When folks first call me … I show them online (I call it my cheat sheets) … How to read the products being offered by the cruise lines.  What you’re getting and what you’re not getting.

I then show them options/alternatives !  What to look for !  What’s not there !  What you may wish you hadn’t missed, after going all the way there !

Had a woman contact me other week … Wanted me to send her info.  Well, I can send info all day … What will that mean to you ?  How will you know what you want ?  What you don’t want  to miss ?  Once I told her I wanted to talk, she said, “Oh, I’ll just do it myself”.

Really ?  Good luck !  My website is FREE to look at and make all your decisions in buying from right there online !  Just know, a car dealer nor a realtor can’t know what you want, without asking you questions  ! Without showing you, the different values  !  Wiithout hoping, you will decide on the best value !

There’s plenty of time, “after” all the needed initial insight (after confirming the initial plans), in adding to your experience in Alaska. Such as tours or extras !  That will be the FuN in making your time there, the best ever !  That's when being on your own will add to your delight in this uppcoming adventure (however, rememeber though, get all your needed "advice" from your travel expert, NOT just from other consumers) !

This is YOUR VACATION.  Start with making it the best it can be !  Give it the needed “time” in beginning on the right road of insight !

North and Southbound Cruise-Only may want to consider adding a little Alaska rail to YOUR experience !

Whether you’re cruising to Alaska your first time or a returning cruiser … If you don’t have time to include an Alaska Land package on this venture, you can still add a little Alaska Railroad to/from Anchorage … When taking a North or Southbound cruise !

It’s called the Coastal Classic train.  Cruises Lines just call it "transfers by rail to/from Anchorage".

Whether you are cruising to/from Whittier (Princess Cruises) or Seward(other cruise lines), the train will ride alongside the Seward Highway, to/from Anchorage to the Whittier area.  Then those who sail to/from Seward, will also include the venture into the mountains !  Those traveling to/from Anchorage by Motorcoach, do not venture into the mountains to/from Seward.

Select Alaska Land Packages through Princess & Holland America automatically include the Coastal Classic portion in their package.  With Royal Caribbean/Celebrity, this portion of the adventure is done by Motorcoach.  These cruise lines who do include, “rent” the train from Alaska Railroad, and often have different schedules, than those buying only the Coastal Classic portion.

The Classic Coastal portion is often available in buying through the cruise line and may have

different schedules.  If not available through the cruise line, cruisers can purchase direct through ARR.  2015 times with ARR:  (from Anchorage) 6:45am, arrive to Girdwood (Whittier) by 7:55am and those going onto Seward, arrive 11:05am.  In reverse, leave Seward 6pm or Girdwood 8:50pm and arrive in Anchorage 10:15pm.

FYI … Holland America often has a hotel/Coastal Class train package.  Others may too.  It’s too early to plan this portion of your trip for 2016 or 2017.

The Classic Coastal Rail is truly a neat-fun experience in adding your Alaska cruise package !  Don’t forget to consider including !

More and more folks are calling me about their bucket list for Alaska.  I can only contribute all the talk, due to friends sharing their enjoyable experiences … And … The bigger emphasis we now find on the net and even on Facebook !

Most folks going to Alaska, come back to having had a great time !  And come back, not only with big smiles on their face, but some interesting stories to share !

The 2015 season just began !  And there’s a few good deals still available.  But if you can’t go in 2015 …. Start thinking 2016 now !  You’ll be surprised to learn, that most folks sailing in 2016, will be booked by September this year !

But if your budget doesn’t allow you to go till 2017 …. We’ve all got to wait till next January to May 2016 for itineraries, ship names, and pricing !
