Are you looking for in depth Alaska Experience ? DiscoverAlaska.Biz may be your answer too

Had a great client of mine re-contact me this week about going to Alaska in 2014.  His groups choice, is to really get a great filling package, and make this one of their big cruise events (which is one reason they are waiting till 2014).

When he contacted me last time, I had just heard from my former Holland America DSM, who let me know, he had left HA and gone to a company, that services only Alaska, Discover Alaska.  I also discovered, just this week, tey are in Virginia (I really like this; supporting a VA company).

The package of things that are included, are truly deep (Example meals; of course, I told him he could also look at Princess Connoisseur  packages).  After re-talking to my customer, he feels, he likes the idea of staying with this company for 2014, rather than looking at the cruise line packages.

You might want to check it out and climb onboard with these packages too !    Great pictures and great insight on this site (even music):

Call me when ready to book, so my DSM, Larry, is there following your package, for us both !

Another caller wanting to go to Alaska

As expected, every time some calls me to talk about Alaska, we talk about different things than I may have talked about with the last caller.  No matter the conversation, when I can get lucky, that my 1st caller of the day, wants to talk about Alaska, it most definiately starts my day off on a "high note".  I love talking and sharing insight of Alaska.
Today, my caller wanted to talk about … Buying the cruise separate from the Alaska land package.

Some general insight we discussed:* The name of the Mnt in Denali is Mount McKinley. * Holland America offers Sitka
* Skagway offers the train into the gorge; Sitka offers the Eagle Rapture Cnt.
* Usually 4 ports on cruise when sailing with Royal Caribbean or Celebrity; 4th stop, Icy Strait
* Princess sails southbound from Whittier; all others, Seward

Tips offered:
* When looking online at cruise line cruise/tours, when you see one you want, write down the tour number, like AB2.
* If you want to rent a car to go see sites from Anchorage, rent the car in Anchorage and return to Anchorage, or you will pay a higher cost, to drop off somewhere else.

Here’s links I sent her after our talk.

I also sent her a copy of my “cheat sheets - summary” of Princess brochure. If you want a copy, go here to ask me, and give me your name, email address and phone number.

You do not have to buy a Princess cruise or a cruise tour in order to buy just their hotels and rail in Alaska

Alaska Railroad site, not too user friendly. It does give times that the train leaves from places like Anchorage, Denali, etc. http://www.alaskarailroad.com/travel/Transit/tabid/619/Default.aspx

Isn’t it time to call with your questions for Alaska ?

What’s so great about the mountain in Alaska ?

If you are fortunate, like myself, who lives in Virginia, to live in a state with mountain views, then you most certainly know the answer to this question !

Here is a US map, of states, who are fortunate to have mountains in their area.
http://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/usa-maps/united-states-mountain-ranges-maps.html

Mountains are beautiful !  They give a sense of peace.  For the most part, and for most, they just sit there and basically do not cause any type of action or movement … peaceful !

Then you have those snow capped mountains, like in Alaska !  Or when it snows in your area or in your mountains.  Again, peaceful to view !

What are the economic value of mountains?  Answers.com

  • It's land, therefore this land can be utilized for purposes such as building, farming...
  • It's biodiversity can provide beneficial law materials (trees)
  • There may be mines and ores in the mountain
  • Tourism.
  • Energy station. (especially wind energy)

Mountains: globally important ecosystems.  See Martin F. Price report.  He leads the Mountain Regions Programme at the Environmental Change Unit, University of Oxford, UK.

Do We Need Mountains?  Articlebase.com

Aesthetic Beauty: The appearance of mountains around our environment makes it naturally beauty. We can always find entertaining waterfalls, caves and ornamental plants in mountainous environment.

Recreation and relaxation: After the hustle and bustle of the day, some of the mountains within our reach can serve as center for recreation and relaxation. Recreational activities like mountains climbing and walking are very interesting and entertaining.”

Like this article says, “We can't really live without mountains.”

Alaska Weddings on Ice

(Sorry, site not posting pictures tooday)

Tom Stewart has folks ask him for  an opportunity to exchange vows “under the midnight sun”.  He is owner of Juneau-based “Alaska Weddings on ice”.   His peak season is during cruise season, when folks are venturing on their Alaska cruise, which includes a stop in Juneau.

Why not !  So many folks are into adventure these days … something different … even with their weddings !

Packages range from $ 900- 4,2000, depending what all you want includes.  A more inexpensive package is $ 908, which includes a ceremony along the shore of Mendenhall Lake, with Mendenhall Glacier and snow-capped mountains in the back. drop.  This package is less expensive because you do not have to be transported anywhere by helicopter.

WOW !

Or … For about twice the price, you can elevate by helicopter, 1,800-3,500 feet and then stand on ice of 2,500 feet deep; to include some flightseeing !
