Why Skagway ? Sitka ?

I’m truly more of a Skagway fan, than Sitka !

Love …

·         Trains

·         This shoot out looking town

·         Available transportation from the ship to the town, which is only @ 3 blocks away

·         Shopping

·         Old Timey looking cars

I find all of the above, better in Skagway.

What I like at Sitka ?

I love the

·         Russian Orthodox church in town

·         Eagle rapture center

·         Indian native dancers, when available

I don't like that you have to tender; but you have to, because of the low tides !

Both have great history !

And both can be reached by “cruise ship” !  Holland America often goes to Sitka; the rest, Skagway.

Why isn’t Alaska on your to-do-list ? Just the beauty alone, will keep you coming back !

If Alaska is not on your to-do-bucket-list, it most certainly should be !

Other than areas of the World, that might cause a person to be subjected to danger, WHY NOT be open, to seeing everywhere in the World, that you can !  And with Alaska, connected, right here, to North America, it is not as far to travel, as so many parts of the rest of the World.

Have you talked to folks who have been to Alaska ?

What do they tell you ?

Beauty is # 1.  Whether it be the mountains, the snow on the mountains, the eagles flying right by you, or the whales flipping their tales out of the water !

Then there’s the beauty in what you do not see every day at home, such as, looking at an ol’ shoot-out-town, like the wild-wild-west shows.  Or the glaciers, with an opportunity to fly over top or land on top and then take a walk.  Or panning for real gold !

And then there’s the beauty of history, that you won’t find back in your own home town.  Whether it be, the lives of the Indians, eskimos; and how what they need, may have to be shipped in by water or flown in by plane.

Beauty is also in the arts.  Whether it be seeing indian/eskimo cultures; music; plays; paintings !  How homes are built.

Beauty is in foods you find in Alaska.  Such as dungeons crab.  And their long-lived cultural recipes. And fishing right out your back door !

You also have “some” things, just like home.  Such as shopping for jewelry.  You often find the same vendors in the cruise ports of Alaska that you find in the Caribbean.

It’s time to include Alaska on your bucket list !  If not, you’ll miss one of nature’s most beautiful opportunities.

FYI, many cruise lines have 2014 rates and space, almost available !  Keep your eyes open.

If you do not have 2 weeks to take your vacation in Alaska, why choose a 7 night cruise, as your 1st priority ?

The #1 reason for choosing a cruise in Alaska, as a priority is simple.  Cruises still rank the # 1 vacation choice for relaxation, variety, and an opportunity to “sea the World” in the most less-complex way !

Alaska by day and cruising amenities by night !

·         Meals

·         Entertainment

·         Accommodations of choice

·         Meet up with friends/family/share experiences

·         Learn about your destination

The 2nd reason is because, a cruise provides a little of everything that Alaska has to offer:

·         Glacier

·         Wildlife

·         Alaska ports of call

·         Alaska adventure (Ex.  fishing, whale watching)

·         History (Ex.  Panning for gold)

And 3rdly, a cruise offers some of the same amenities you would find on a Caribbean cruise …. SHOPPING !  For jewelry and more !

You can add some extra days, before of after your cruise, to visit a few locations, while in Alaska.

·         From Anchorage, visit the Alaska Wildlife Preserve and take a cruise to Portage Glacier

·         Take a train ride to Denali

Choosing a 7 night cruise is not too hard.  However, do yourself a favor … Reach out to a cruise specialist who has visited Alaska several times … By asking the cruise specialist to manage your cruise for you, they will in turn, let you in on the little secrets of “What to look for in an Alaska cruise for YOU !”
